Every January, about a dozen mountain men and around four thousand......four thousand!.....Boy Scouts meet at Harvey County Park West near Burrton, Kansas where they have their Annual Trappers Rendezvous. We put on a black powder shoot and a tomahawk throwing event for them, and set up primitive camps for them to observe. Some of us are "Mystery Mountain Men" and are given tokens and a famous trapper of the past to portray, and the Scouts try to find all the Mystery Mountain Men and collect the complete set of tokens. I like to also carry a beaver pelt, trap and beaver hat with me and give impromptu presentations about the fur trappers. Someone pointed a video camera at me and posted it on YouTube. |
